Many married couples haven’t been on a date with their spouse since having kids. While it’s a lot harder to get out of the house together once kids come along, couples need that one-on-one time with each other to keep their relationship strong. However, even when you want to go out with your husband for a date, sometimes it can be easy to fall into the same-old-same-old ideas. Here’s a list of some ways you can date your husband.
“Even though you’re married… you need to get away alone and continue to talk, laugh and have fun together. You need to learn more about each other, your past and your dreams for the future. You need to feel at ease with each other as you face new challenges together. That’s why dating shouldn’t stop with marriage.” ~ Dr. Gary and Barbara Rosberg, 40 Unforgettable Dates with Your Mate

“Keeping a marriage together and the romance alive takes time. It means making one’s marriage and spouse a priority and setting aside time for only him or her. In other words, it means planning dates on a regular basis.” ~ Dr. Gary and Barbara Rosberg, 40 Unforgettable Dates with Your Mate

Sometimes we forget our ‘attitude’ can change something bothersome or an awful chore to a date…Being together with positive comments and a smile while completing something that has frequently been ‘difficult’ —— can become extra special if we think that way. Change the memory from awful to wonderful with your attitude. This takes effort but the reward is awesome!
Some great ideas in this list. I love the idea of looking something up on Pinterest and creating it together. Totally stealing that one!
Go for it!!! Blog about it and tell us how it goes! 🙂
Yes, dates are important. We found that breakfast works the best for us. They are not usually as costly, and most often we could find a babysitter on Saturday mornings. Now that that we don’t need a babysitter anymore, we slip out before they are even awake!
Love the idea of breakfast! Particularly because I love all things breakfast. 🙂 It’s also a great way to do something new and get out of the same-old same-old dating habits (for those of us who don’t usually do breakfast dates). Thanks for dropping by!
THese are great ideas! I agree that it is very important to date your husband. When the kids grow up and leave, he’ll still be there. If you leave your relationship untouched until then, you will be strangers instead of best friends!
So true! We need to think long-term in our relationships and invest in our marriage because we want it to last. 🙂 Thanks for pointing that out!
We have a weekly Costco shopping date without kids Sometimes we go for breakfast before hand. It is a relaxed time to connect and check up. Always important to make couple time even with the busy schedule that comes with kids.
That’s a great way to do something together! That way you can compare notes about what you need/want while you’re browsing the aisles. (My hubby is the shopper in our family – he likes going to check out Costco.)
These are some great ideas Bonnie! We are guilty of not going on dates nights, but every six months or so we manage to squeeze one in. It is definitely worth the effort..
I agree – it can be an effort sometimes but it’s worth it!!! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
