“No greater priority exists for the believer than knowing Christ through the study of His word and the intimacy of prayer.” ~Beth Moore
In Whispers of Hope, Beth Moore invites readers to join a 10-week journey into God’s Word and the hope He offers. I asked my friend Kerry to read and review this book for me, because she’s raved about Beth’s other books and I was super busy with school. Here’s her thoughts on Beth’s book.

Scripture tells us to pray without ceasing, but how in the world do we do that? In fact, how should we effectively pray to begin with?
Best-selling author Beth Moore addresses these practical and pervasive matters in Whispers of Hope by walking readers through an easy to remember and apply method of prayer, coupled with seventy daily devotionals and followed by prompts to put this prayer method into practice.
Whispers of Hope overview
Whispers of Hope is set up as a devotional that also includes a daily prayer time. The format for the suggested prayer time, P.R.A.I.S.E., is explained at the beginning of the book. P.R.A.I.S.E. stands for Praise, Repentance, Acknowledgement, Intercession, Supplication for self, and Equipping. Beth includes examples for each of these parts of the prayer time. After each devotional, she provides spaces for the reader to fill in each section of the P.R.A.I.S.E. model.
If you are familiar with Beth Moore’s other works, you will find her familiar voice etched throughout the pages of Whispers of Hope. Her devotionals contain Scripture verses and teaching on the various parts of Scripture she has selected. She also includes research she has conducted into the meaning of words in the Bible, which adds depth to her devotionals. Her own personal life stories assist in engaging the audience and clarifying her point.
My thoughts on Whispers of Hope
I was delighted that I found the devotions to be Scripturally based and insightful. The recommended prayer structure helped me to slow down and spend time with God beyond just making requests of Him. However, I did tend to pair the suggested prayer structure with other previously studied aspects of prayer.
In my opinion, Moore accomplishes her goal of helping readers to develop their relationship with God, through their use of Whispers of Hope as a tool to delve deeper into God’s word and to spend time with Him.

Great review – I’ve heard mixed reviews on this devotional. I’m always looking for more opinions, as I struggle with daily devotions, even though it should be easy! Thank you so much for linking up with Cozy Reading Spot.

hopping over from the cozy book hop! I am planning to do the Beth Moore book as a blog journey starting in January!-tentatively- It is really a great little acronym for prayer. I have been a Moms In Prayer mom and leader and love the way she incorporates that same kind of theme…in a uniquely Beth Moore way with a touch of freshness.
Oh, and a lovely, concise review. Thanks for sharing! 😉
That sounds like a wonderful devotional. I’ve completed several Beth Moore studies with the ladies at church, and this devotional sounds perfect for where I am in life right now. Prayer time is always a struggle. It’s the most important thing but doesn’t fit my checklist personality so well. I know that’s a shame, but it’s the absolute truth. It’s always hard for me to focus during that time. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for introducing me to Beth Moore. I am always interested in growing my faith and this 10 week journey might be just what I need.
