The Only Ballet Flat You Need

It’s cute. It’s comfy. It’s easy to slide on and folds up small to travel. It’s the ballet flat, reinvented by Tieks. With the weather outside getting nicer, I am loving how easy it is to slip on my Tieks and head outdoors.

I received this pair of shoes courtesy of Tieks for the purpose of this review; all opinions expressed remain my own.

A Rainbow of Shoes

Tieks ballet flats come in hundreds of fun colours. Including green. Multiple shades of green. I chose olive green. Whether you like solid colours like me, or prints or stripes or snakeskin or sparkles, there’s a pair of Tieks for you!

My new ballet flats arrived folded into a little box that would hardly take up any space in my suitcase (unlike the last time I tried to travel with spare shoes). The unique split sole not only makes these shoes fit easily into a bag (whether you’re venturing out for just the evening or for a weekend getaway), but also allows them to mold to your foot and flex while you walk.

Being a mom of teen daughters, I now have in-home fashion advisers on everything I wear. They do actually have a better sense of style than I do (clearly they didn’t get it from me), so I usually appreciate their fashion advice. One thing they didn’t like about my Tieks was the teal soles with the olive green uppers. This is a trend of all the Tieks–every single colour has teal soles, which goes better with some colours than others. Most of the time, nobody notices what’s on the bottom of your shoes, so I think it’s a fun little feature.

Currently, I style my Tieks with my favourite mom jeans, because that’s what I wear most days. I do have a lot of green tops in my closet, so I’m having fun matching my shoes to my shirts. Apparently, I have a big big toe, as the shoes squish my toe just a little bit, but I’m expecting the leather to stretch a bit and the shoes to get more comfortable as I wear them longer.

More about Tieks

Tieks are meant to mold to your foot and flex while you walk, making them comfortable for all-day wear. The heel is cushioned rather than elastic, so they’re never too tight. The non-skid rubber outsole offers extra traction and support. Each shoe is crafted from Italian leather and offers a classic look that works for any style or season.

I’m always a bit unsure about ordering shoes online, but the sizing guide on the Tieks website said they run true to size. I ordered a size 8, which is what I usually wear, and my new ballet flats fit perfectly! They do offer a great return policy if your shoes don’t fit.

Anyone who is contemplating Tieks I have had a Matte Black pair for 8 years that finally need to be retired. They have been well loved and worn–Teacher, traveller and mom. If I did a price per wear at 2x a week minimum over 8 years along with the comfy feet there is no doubt they are worth the cost. ~ loyal customer review
