My girls love doing crafts. They also love getting mail. They had tons of fun reviewing the superhero-themed My FUNvelope. (Did I mention they’re into superheros right now too?) My FUNvelope is a Canadian subscription kit that provides kids crafts to do every month.
My FUNvelope provides kids crafts for ages 3-9 (like Sunshine, Lily and Jade!). Each month your child will rush to the mailbox to receive their Funvelope. They will discover and have fun with four unique craft projects that follow a fun monthly theme (such as superheroes). They will also receive a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activity for hands on building that is fun and sometime hilarious!
The Superhero FUNvelope was the first one we received, so it included a pair of scissors and a canvas marker bag with markers. The girls have had fun decorating their marker bag. I’m happy to have a place to store their markers when they’re not doing crafts!
The kids crafts included a pink-and-purple superhero cape with a matching mask, as well as two more cardboard masks that the girls could colour. They aren’t really into Batman and Spiderman yet (despite meeting both at a local kids’ event!), so they were slightly more creative in colouring their masks…
(I still wouldn’t want to meet Jade in a dark alley!)
While the girls jumped straight into the crafts, I appreciated the instructions that came with each activity. A full-colour brochure listed the crafts and activities in the kit. Sunshine and Lily were able to follow the instructions themselves, and I gave Jade a bit of help with the crafts she wanted to do.
As a mom of girls, I was happy to see that My FUNvelope didn’t just provide the typical male superhero figures. Our crafts differed slightly from what was pictured above, with a pink cape and a superwoman drinking straw. I appreciated the way this encourages my girls to be strong women—girls can be heroes too!
While the girls love doing crafts, I don’t like coming up with ideas and supplies for them. We do have a craft box, but often when Sunshine wants to make something, we don’t have the supplies on hand. I liked the fact that with My FUNvelope, everything they need is included. I just have to hand them the envelope and they can craft to their heart’s content.
My FUNvelope would be a great birthday or Christmas gift idea, as it keeps giving throughout the year!
