If your teen is a reluctant hiker, find ways to motivate him or her to join the family. We often plan hikes with other family friends who enjoy also enjoy hiking. Hiking to a super scenic location like a lake to swim in or an awesome waterfall to watch can also be motivating. And, of course, snacks always help. My dad used to motivate my brothers and I with chocolate covered almonds. Find out what food will get your teen hiking and stock up on it!

If you’re looking for something more challenging, you can even try outdoor rock climbing or rappelling. These activities are sure to get your heart pumping and provide an adrenalin rush. Just be sure to take the proper safety precautions before attempting them.

2. Gel ball undercover

This is a newfangled activity that is becoming increasingly popular. It is a cross between tag and paintball, without the mess of paint. You can play in teams or every person for themselves. I like using the AllTrails app to look up trails for us, depending on where we want to bike.
