For the past several years, Pinterest has been my top source of blog traffic. Just this year, Pinterest brings me 67% of my readers (compared to 14% of traffic from Facebook, my second best referrer). As a result, I try to put a lot of effort into Pinterest. I’m constantly looking at Pinterest tips and ways that I can better use this social media platform / search engine. When Krista from Far From Normal asked for reviewers for her new book, The Blogger’s Guide to Kicking Ass on Pinterest, I jumped at the chance to help out and learn more at the same time.
The Blogger’s Guide to Kicking Ass on Pinterest is Krista’s tried-and-tested strategy for increasing blog traffic using Pinterest. In this easy-to-read ebook, she honestly shares where she started and what she did to explode her blog growth. Krista’s techniques are easy to follow and guaranteed to bring results!
I read Krista’s ebook on my tablet (while I was recovering from the flu, actually—it was something I could do while lying on the couch, that made me feel productive after several days of just feeling yucky). It was easy to flip between the ebook and Pinterest, implementing some of Krista’s suggestions as I read. For example, I updated my Pinterest profile and added a new board.
The Blogger’s Guide to Kicking Ass on Pinterest includes 9 chapters:
- Pinterest Basics—set yourself up for success
- All about the Boards
- Pins that Get Noticed
- Building a Following
- Networking with Group Boards
- Pinning Schedule and Strategy
- Using Tailwind
- General Pinterest Tips
- Bringing it All Together
While I’ve already read lot about the importance of pinnable images (Chapter 3) and worked at improving my images, I’ve had a harder time building a following on Pinterest. I find it much easier to grow my followers on other social media platforms. Krista’s tips in this area were thus helpful, as I wasn’t even sure where to start.
My favourite chapter was the one on Tailwind. I recently started using this Pinterest tool and have found it very helpful, but at times confusing. I haven’t yet taken the hour to watch the Tailwind tutorial video, but after spending ten minutes reading Chapter 7, I was able to make some changes to the way I use Tailwind. This is an immensely useful Pinterest tool, especially as we head into summer holidays. Having Krista’s tips for setting up my Tailwind to keep my Pinterest active, even while I’m on holidays, was definitely worth reading the ebook!
Each chapter ends with a list of specific, practical take-aways from the chapter. You can use these as a checklist to make sure that you’re putting the tips to use right away. Some things, I’d already done; some things, I did while reading Krista’s book; and some things I’ll be working on in the next weeks and months.
Whether you’re just starting out on Pinterest, or you’ve been using it for a few years and want to up your game like me, The Blogger’s Guide to Kicking Ass on Pinterest is sure to help you! Grab Krista’s book now and set aside half an hour to read through it.
Make sure you write down your Pinterest stats before you start, so you can enjoy watching your growth as you implement Krista’s tips.
