Valentine’s Day Ideas for Her

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Last year I shared a list of Valentine’s Day ideas for men and this year I’ve been thinking of Valentine’s Day ideas for her.

You see, this holidays seems to be synonymous with flowers and chocolates. The problem is, I don’t like flowers (they wilt and turn yucky and have to get thrown out) and, as much as I like chocolates, I should probably be cutting back on them. So if you’re also looking for some things to drop hints about this month, here’s my top Valentine’s Day ideas for her.

Get a pair of Kindles and download some books you’d both like to read. Then plan a reading date, either at home after the kids have gone to bed or at your favourite coffee shop. Make sure to leave time to discuss what you’re reading together. Many books have discussion guides in the back to get you started.

Need some book ideas? Try these books to take you far away, relationship books to grow your marriage, or maybe some sci-fi novels!

Pick a favourite picture of you together and have it printed on canvas or glass for her. I really like both Ookpix and Fracture for getting photos onto walls. Ookpix creates quality canvases that have a very traditional look to them. Fracture prints photos right on glass for a sleek, modern look.

Get her the Melt: Couples Massage Course, along with massage oil, cushions, candles, and music for the night. You can pick from the signature series or just learn how to do a foot rub, hand rub, or head rub. For a romantic, classy touch, add some roses from MrRoses.com.au or your local flower shop.

Show you love her by investing in her hobbies and interest. Sign her up for a class—cooking, dance, art, fitness, blogging. If you have kids, make sure you can watch them so she can get out.

Buy a new board game to play together. Board games for two are a great way to spend time together and have fun! Pick a new game to learn together or get a travel version of one of your favourite games so that you can take it to a coffee shop or pub.

Get her a gift certificate to your local spa. Some spas have “his and hers” deals if you want to make this a date. Or just plan something relaxing together after she gets home again feeling all pampered.

Find a Precious Moments figurine that represents a special memory or another aspect of your relationship. Write her a letter or card explaining why you chose that figurine.

A beautiful watch is a stylish yet practical gift that will make her think of you every time she glances at it.

Things You Can Do for Her for Valentine’s Day

Vacuum and clean her vehicle for her (or take it to the shop to get it done).

Does she have a “honey-do” list? Tackle something on the list that she’s been asking for or make a coupon book with those items.

Hire a cleaning service for a day or give her a coupon for a day off while you clean the house.

Date Night Ideas

Relive the start of your romance by taking her back to one of the places you went when you were dating. If you’ve moved, find somewhere similar. One of our first dates was at a German restaurant, and we’ve enjoyed checking out German restaurants in other cities.

You could also be a tourist in your own hometown and go somewhere new together!

St. Valentine is actually the patron saint of engaged couples and happy marriages. Ask him and some of the other patron saints of marriage to pray for you and your wife.
