I grew up baking with my mom. I can remember making little buns out of the dough she was fashioning into bread or shaping my own mini tarts with leftover pastry. By the time I was in my early teens, I was the “Chief Cookie Baker” for our house, responsible for keeping the cookie jar full (an important job, with two hungry teenage brothers in the house). I don’t remember any huge baking flops, but I remember many times that I’d holler, “Mom! What do I do here?”
Even though I’ve been baking in my own kitchen for a long time, there are still moments when I want to holler, “Mom!” I often pick up the phone to call my mom (or my mother-in-law) to say, “Can I substitute this for that? What if I don’t have this sort of pan? What does the recipe mean by this?” But sometimes, they aren’t around when I call. Then I’m left to guess…
or call the Crisco® Pie & Baking Hotline at 1-877-367-7438 (just a second—I gotta go write this in all my baking books).
The Crisco® Pie & Baking Hotline is now in its ninth year and is expanding its repertoire to include even more yummy baking tips. No matter what your baking question is, they are sure to have an answer.
Now, there are even more experts available via phone at the Crisco® Pie & Baking Hotline. You may get a chance to ask advice from popular baking bloggers Kristen Doyle from Dine & Dish, Yvette Marquez from Muy Bueno Cookbook and Vianney Rodriguez of Sweet Life Bake in addition to Michele Stuart, owner of Michele’s Pies in Norwalk, CT., and the Crisco® Test Kitchen.
The Crisco® Pie & Baking Hotline is open year-round from 9 am to 7 pm Eastern Standard Time (okay, so no late night baking on the west coast, ladies!).
During the holiday season (when you’re trying out all those scrumptious new recipes), they are available even longer hours: November 10 – 26, you can reach the Hotline from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET and December 15 – 23, phones will be answered from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET. If you’re still baking on December 24, you can call between 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET.
